Car Kills Cow, Two Men Hurt

Two persons were slightly injured in an accident on South Shields Street about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when their automobile struck and killed a cow on the road about two miles south of Horsetooth Road.

Charles T. Decker of Arvada, the driver told State Patrolman Ray Benach that he tried to avoid the animal. The black cow was killed instantly and the car was demolished.

Both Mr. Decker and a passenger, Joseph D. Dinwiddie of 516 Villanova Court were treated at Poudre Valley Memorial Hospital for minor bruises and released.

Mrs. Eulalia M. Deherrera of Loveland was arrested late Wednesday night by Fort Collins police following a minor accident in the 200 block of Walnut Street. She was charged with careless driving and the failure to stop and give information.

Police said the DeHerrera car, turning from Pine Street to Walnut Street, struck the front end of a vehicle driven by James W. Irwin, also of Loveland, causing about $126 damage to each car.

Mrs. DeHerrera then drove away from the scene and was arrested a short time later. She was placed in the city jail.

Another minor accident was reported Wednesday afternoon at South College Avenue and West Laurel Street. The car driven by Marilyn L. Michee of loveland struck the rear of a car driven by Shirley A. Oliman of Aggie Village. Little damage was done to teh vehicles but 3-year-old Kevin J. Michee received a slight bump on the head.

Mrs. Michee was cited for following too closely.
